Pinterest released its annual predictions report this week, spotting 21 trends set to take off in 2026 from billions of searches and user activity. The company crunched data from September 2024 to August 2025 against the prior year, claiming an 88% accuracy rate on past calls, as The Guardian notes and Axios reports.

Key Trends Emerging Worldwide

Australia-focused highlights include a 225% jump in “1980s luxury” searches, 465% for “Scotland Highlands aesthetic,” and 175% for “the poet aesthetic.” Gen Z and millennials lean into “poetcore” with turtlenecks, fountain pens, and satchels. Other big ones: “Afrohemian” decor from baby boomers and Gen X, “glitchy glam” like asymmetric hair and mismatched nails, “cool blue” in drinks and makeup, plus “aliencore,” vampires, and “forest magic.”

Food gets quirky too. Boomers and Gen X search more for cabbage dishes like kimchi, dumplings, and golumpki soup. Younger users chase a “gummy bears aesthetic” in makeup and nail art.

Top US Trends

Business Insider breaks down the US leaders:

  • Cabbage Crush: Cabbage dumplings up 110%, plus golumpki soup and cabbage Alfredo. Boomers and Gen X swap cauliflower for cabbage steaks and kimchi cocktails.
  • Glitchy Glam: Mismatched manicures, two-toned lipstick, searches for “eccentric makeup” and “nails with different colors on each hand.”
  • Throwback Kid: “1970s childhood toys,” upcycled baby clothes, crocheted play mats.
  • Scent Stacking: “Perfume layering combinations” and “niche perfume collection” rising as users blend their own scents.
  • Extra Celestial: “Alien core aesthetic” up 80%, holographic accents, opalescent eyeshadow.

Honorable mentions: “Glamoratti” with chunky gold and maximalist suits, “Pen Pals” reviving letter writing, and more gummy vibes.

Melinda Petrunoff, Pinterest ANZ managing director, ties it to people picking personal styles over viral copies for comfort and authenticity.

New Walmart Integration for Recipes

On the shopping side, Pinterest added a Walmart tie-in for US users. Tap “Shop Ingredients” on recipe Pins to add items to your cart, swap alternatives, check prices, and pick stores for pickup or delivery. It switches to the Walmart app to buy. Recipes rank high for shopping intent on the platform’s 600 million monthly users, per Social Media Today.

Pinterest hit $1.049 billion in Q3 revenue, up 17% year-over-year.

In other news, Pinterest saves 90% on AI models through open source, CEO Bill Ready says, per The Information. Wedbush downgraded its stock to Neutral on growth concerns, Investing.com reports.
